We have an exciting opportunity for a dotnet Programmer to undertake work in further developing an existing solution we provide as part of the Clinical Informatics Research Unit.

The applicant should have an excellent knowledge of C#, .NET Core, SQL and JavaScript/ES6. Experience with any front-end frameworks such as Aurelia, Ember or Angular would be extremely beneficial to the role, as would exposure to modern tooling such as Webpack, Linux and Docker. The applicant should be an experienced programmer with proven skills in the design, development and delivery of websites in a variety of systems. Other skills that would be advantageous include CI/CD, source control and general programming theory.

The main function of this role is to work with an existing team of programmers and testers to further develop EDGE, a leading clinical trials management system. The system is well established across the UK and internationally and we have many opportunities for enhancing and integrating the software into various other arenas.

The role is based in the University of Southampton Clinical Informatics Research Unit (CIRU) at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. The unit is a growing part of the medical school and part of the CRUK Clinical Centre. We have been working remotely for the past eighteen months, and the expectation is that this will continue as the predominant model, supplemented with in-person meetings as and when required.

There are opportunities wo work on other software projects in medicine as well as in the development of support tools and frameworks.

The applicant should be able to demonstrate a genuine interest programming and web development. They should also show initiative and creativity that can bring new ideas and approaches to our software.

The post is available on a full-time, permanent basis.

The salary for this post is inclusive of a Market Supplement.
