A vacancy has arisen for a Medical/Clinic Secretaries to join a friendly administrative team supporting the Auditory Implant Service at the University of Southampton. The centre offers a regional service for deaf children and adults who attend for assessment and follow-up after receiving an auditory implant. For more information about the service visit

You will be key members of a multi-disciplinary team.  The Clinical Secretary will be one of 4 medical secretaries supporting a multi-disciplinary team including a visiting ENT consultant.  You will be an adaptable multi-tasker and provide proactive and patient focussed administration and not be afraid to pitch to support colleagues across the wider team as the need arises. You will need excellent secretarial skills including audiotyping and diary management. You will have proven administrative experience within a health care setting and ideally will have undergone specialist training in the field or hold a role as medical secretary. 

You should have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and be confident interacting with a wide variety of people via email and on the telephone. You must be able to communicate with people who may have difficulty with understanding and be compassionate to their needs. You will have a keen eye for detail and appreciate the need for accuracy and adherence to the data protection and information governance policies and procedures. 

Your secretarial training and proven experience, together with your expertise using Microsoft Office, will be crucial to your success.

A standard DBS check will be required for this role.

If there is a large shortlist we will conduct screening interviews by Microsoft Teams. Following a successful screening interview, the candidates will be given a task to prepare for the formal interview.
