Gift of Sight Assistant

About Gift of Sight

The Gift of Sight appeal fundraises to support world-class vision research undertaken in the University of Southampton. Understanding the causes of blinding eye diseases that affect large numbers of the population has always been the major focus of research studies and will help develop new treatments for the future.

Our job is to raise awareness of the impact of sight loss and to explain the fantastic research that will help improve outcomes.

About the role

In this role you will report to the Gift of Sight Manager and support them through a diverse range of activities, including creating and delivering engaging content on social media channels and the Gift of Sight website, assisting with organising and attending events, recording data accurately and compliantly, meeting and supporting community fundraising volunteers and providing project support.

About you

You will be a team player, ready to turn your hand to a range of tasks, some routine and some project based.  You will be well organised with attention to detail, experience of communicating well with external audiences and a passion for supporting medical research through fundraising.  We are looking for someone with intellectual curiosity and different ideas. You could have direct experience or transferable skills with the interest and drive to take on new challenges. You will have a full driving licence and the use of your own transport (this is desirable).

About us

As part of the Office of Development and Alumni Relations our role is to work closely with colleagues within the University’s fundraising team and also with eye doctors, scientists and sight loss support groups. We intend to further grow our profile to help increase income that supports vital eye research.

We are actively determined to welcome a diverse group of colleagues into our inclusive team. Every day will be different, you will meet incredible people and the rewards will be huge.

The successful candidate will be offered a flexible work arrangement with a combination of office and home working and regular activity in the community.
