Enterprise Technician/Engineer

Salary:   £25,627 to £38,587 Per annum
Full Time Fixed Term for 24 months

The Wolfson Unit provides commercial services to industry and has a world-wide reputation for excellence and independence in the marine and industrial aerodynamics sectors.  We specialise in yachts, both sail and power, commercial craft, small ships and high performance craft although the range of applications may be in any field of engineering, with industrial aerodynamics and sports engineering also being significant areas. 

You will be engaged primarily in the following activities: 

  • Scale model/experimental testing in hydro/aerodynamics facilities 
  • Theoretical/numerical analysis and desk based consultancy

along with  

  • Commercial and internal software development
  • Hardware and electronics development
  • Promotional activities

We work on a consultancy basis forming long term relationships  therefore it is essential that you have good communication skills and are able to actively engage with our clients.  As you will be faced with a range of problems a flexible and solution focused approach is essential.

The work is expected to involve a significant amount of physical, laboratory and workshop activities and being able to demonstrate experience in a range of practical skills will be beneficial. Coding skills, particularly C++, python or Labview, along with a good understanding of naval architecture would be advantageous.  An interest in sailing or other marine activities will make this even more enjoyable.

Whilst this is initially a 2 year fixed term contract, the intention is for the post to become permanent subject to the longer term financial viability of the position.
