About the Role

The Department of English at the University of Southampton is looking to appoint an full-time fixed-term (9 months) Teaching Fellow in Contemporary Writing, starting in September 2022. The successful candidate will be expected to teach on undergraduate modules on twentieth and twenty-first century literature, theory and criticism, and queer studies. They will be able to contribute to:

 

  • First-year modules on The Novel, The Act of the Essay, Theory and Criticism, and Poetic Language
  • Second- and third year modules on Moderns and Contemporaries and Writing Queerness
  • Final year dissertation supervision
  • Postgraduate Taught dissertation supervision

 

About You

The successful candidate will have completed, or be near to completing, a PhD in English, Cultural Studies, Gender and Sexuality, or a related discipline. They will be able to teach broadly across first year survey courses, as well as on specialist modules on queer literatures. Experience of teaching at undergraduate level is an essential requirement.
