This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly skilled project manager to join the University of Southampton.

As an experienced project manager, you will manage this significant change project to support the reduction of casualisation.  This work will mark an important shift in our employment model and will bring to life some of the people related opportunities we have identified in our strategic plans.

What you’ll do

  • Understand and express the needs and wants of the wider University and work with HR colleagues to scope and plan several complex projects related to employment including reducing the use of fixed term contracts.
  • Deliver these projects through engagement with senior stakeholders using the University’s project delivery approaches. 
  • Coordinate, manage and motivate project teams working in a matrix environment. 
  • Track and monitor progress to report on project status using various methodologies, including board level reports, summaries, presentations, and verbal updates.

About you

You will be a proactive problem solver who can manage multiple priorities to ensure that work is delivered on time and to the required standards and budget.  You will be an engaged team member, with a practical approach who is able to work independently and to manage conflicting priorities. 

As an experienced, people focused project manager with an established track record of successful projects you will hold a PRINCE2 or similar qualification.  Experience of working within the HE sector and/or on HR projects would be an advantage. You will have experience of planning and managing multiple projects and be able to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders.   Experience of working in a unionised environment would be beneficial.
