We are seeking to appoint our first Head of Engagement and Participation, to join our Senior Management Team at Turner Sims. This new role offers an exciting opportunity, building upon Turner Sims’ performance programme, to develop and deliver an ambitious Engagement and Participation programme that delivers against our vision and mission, responding to the interests and needs of a diverse range of people and communities, including schools and colleges, community groups, young people, families, adults and older people.   

As Head of Engagement and Participationyou will develop an Engagement strategy and plan, manage a range of activities in venue and in the community, and contribute to developing new models of co-design and collaborative practice. You will support internships and traineeships, artists and creatives, and work with a variety of collaborators and stakeholderscommunity and university partners, including our students and staff.  

Experience of working in a similar role and environment is essential, along with a good knowledge of engagement, learning and participation within a music and/or performing arts setting. Experience of multi-tasking and community engagement work is important. We have a dedication to fairness, diversity, equality and inclusiveness, making music accessible to all. 

Turner Sims and the University plays an active role in the cultural life of Southampton and the region. We are locally engaged and internationally recognised. The venue is renowned for its extraordinary acoustic qualities, we attract international artists and provide a platform for new voices in music. We have developed our five-year Future Strategy and Transition plan, marking a new chapter in our history and ambition. We are working to expand and evolve our programming and to reach new and different audiences.
