In 2020, Southampton embarked on an ambitious and exciting project to enhance and improve its web presence. This project has delivered several significant milestones and is now moving to better highlight and celebrate our academic research. To achieve this important goal, partnership and co-creation of compelling and accurate web content with our academic colleagues is critical.

Two roles have been created in each of the University’s five faculties to lead this engagement: Faculty Digital Information (Content and Data) Manager Web Content Manager and Faculty Web Co-ordinator. These roles will work with academic and professional service colleagues to represent Southampton online in the best possible light.

At this time, we are recruiting for the two Faculty Web Co-ordinator roles, one in the Faculty of Medicine and one in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

The Faculty Web Co-ordinator will engage with academic and professional services colleagues to coordinate and prioritise the creation of essential content through liaison, communication and engagement. You will play a central role in offering the support and advice colleagues need to make their contributions, for example offering briefings on how to update personal staff profiles. You will monitor and report on progress against project milestones, making recommendations on how to progress our objectives. Your liaison between web development professionals and Faculty colleagues will simplify and explain our processes and enable constructive feedback and continuous improvement of our work.

In this role, your effective interpersonal skills with staff from across the academic community and professional services, both within the Faculty and the wider University, will ensure the creation, implementation, maintenance, and support of outstanding digital content.

Successful candidates will be able to work flexibly and remotely and will be expected to spend at least 60% of their contracted hours working on campus. Flexibility will be required should the business need require a greater on-site presence. These positions are being offered on a permanent basis and are available from 0.8 - 1.0 FTE to support flexibility in work.
