Location:  Southampton General Hospital
Salary:   £28,929 to £31,502 per annum
Full Time Fixed Term (until 31/08/2025)
Closing Date:  Friday 09 June 2023
Interview Date:   To be confirmed

Applications are invited for a CRUK Data Coordinator position to join the CRUK accelerator programme ‘Early Cancer Research Initiative Network on Monoclonal B-cell Lymphocytosis (ECRIN-M3) awarded to Professor Francesco Forconi.

For personalised medicine to become a clinical reality we must meaningfully integrate and interrogate patient multi-dimensional data. We can produce a learning health system in which high dimensional data is routinely integrated into the clinical arena and iteratively interrogated to discover new prognostic and stratification signatures and refine those known.

You will work in a clinical research study coordinating clinical and research data of B-cell cancers, including monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis (MBL) , working with data specialists in the Clinical Informatics Research Unit (CIRU) and with an expanding team of clinicians and scientists with a strong grounding in cancer B-cell immunology, genomics, molecular/cellular biology and bioinformatics at the School of Cancer Sciences. You will be incorporating medical records and high-dimensional biomedical data, as well as applying the latest trans-disciplinary data analysis techniques to refine phenotypic, genetic and functional markers in the BC Platforms data warehouse to improve clinical decision-making. You will ensure the collection and validation of clinical and biological data flowing from recruiting sites into your platforms. You will contribute to the coordination of the study by interacting directly with local ECRIN-M3 team members, research assistants and nurses, and with international collaborators, including those from Spain and Italy involved in the programme. You will be an enthusiastic and well-motivated team-player with excellent communication skills, working in a fertilising environment of clinicians and scientists developing high impact research projects. You will contribute to the design of new models of disease progression from the very early stages (early cancer) to overt B-cell leukaemias and lymphomas. You will be expected to contribute to the development and enhancement of the B-cell group within the School of Cancer Sciences, nationally and internationally.

The successful candidate will have familiarity with medical statistics and use of common computational programming. Knowledge on prognostic scores in mature B-cell cancers, including chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and indolent B-cell lymphomas are desirable. This post will be based within the Cancer Sciences and CIRU at the Southampton General Hospital campus, with modern and well equipped facilities, where you will interact with data specialists developing reliable clinical data collection approaches for research, with support from clinical and laboratory-based colleagues.

We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community. EU and international applications are also welcome. If a sufficient number of applications are received this vacancy may close earlier than the date specified at the top of this advert. Therefore, if interested in applying for this vacancy we recommend you submit your completed application as soon as possible.
