Lecturer in String Theory

Applications are invited for two three-year fixed-term Lectureships (Assistant Professors) in String Theory to start on 1 February 1 2024 or as soon as possible afterwards. 

About you

The successful candidates will have a track record of excellent research and the potential to lead research at an international level in the areas of string theory, holography, quantum field theory, and other related areas. The postholders will undertake teaching in the mathematics programmes and, where appropriate, will be encouraged to take part in joint supervision of graduate research students.

The String theory & Holography Group at Southampton (part of the Division of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics) offers a welcoming, stimulating, and active research environment, and it consists of Prof Kostas Skenderis, Prof Oscar Dias, Dr Ines Aniceto, Dr Felix Haehl, Dr Carlos Mafra, Dr Andreas Schmitt, Dr David Turton,  Dr Benjamin Withers, Dr Itamar Yaakov. The group has close links with formal theory group in Physics, which includes Prof James Drummond, Prof Nick Evans and Dr Omer Gurdogan.  Further information about Mathematical Sciences at Southampton can be found at .
