Department of Fashion & Textiles
The Department of Fashion & Textiles is the school’s largest department, offering design & technologies, leadership & strategy, and marketing education, at undergraduate, taught-postgraduate, and doctoral levels. Core research areas include fashion and textiles, luxury, smart textile design & technologies for social, economic, and environmental benefits, textile design and manufacturing, and e-textiles, with sustainability embedded across all the subjects.
The role
This role focuses on leading our growing national and international reputation in the field of luxury and sustainable textile practices, be they in artisanal or advanced manufacturing contexts. The role will focus on developing a new area of education within the undergraduate provision of the department, providing the vision and expertise necessary to establish a new and vibrant learning environment for the delivery of high-quality education in WSA.
This will include leadership of research activities in the sustainable luxury field, knowledge exchange and impact in the Department’s key research areas.
About you
You will have a proven track record of developing new curricula and delivering an excellent standard of teaching at all levels, as well as being a research leader. You will also have experience of leading programmes, working across cognate disciplines and developing national and international partnerships with industry and enterprise. You will contribute to growing the strengths of dynamic academic team leading the subject of Textiles.
