The Wessex Institute, part of the Faculty of Medicine, is seeking a new Director to lead the Southampton Health Technology Assessments Centre (SHTAC). For over 15 years, SHTAC has been delivering evidence synthesis to address the needs of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) appraisal committees; and also using these skills to address wider health services and public health evidence needs. The unit has just been successful in re-bidding for its core contract with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), which will now run until 2021.

Managing a multidisciplinary team of 15 staff, you will be responsible for continuing to build this unit, both maintaining its reputation with NICE and developing other income streams. Your role is vital to SHTAC’s ongoing development, both in its contribution to NICE’s work and SHTAC’s own contributions to the health services evidence base.  You will also contribute to the academic leadership within the Wessex Institute to enhance the quality of the institute’s research and other projects.

With a background in successful health services research and a track record of obtaining grant funding and publishing, ideally you would also have experience of working with NICE.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be addressed to Dr Andrew Cook (andrewc@soton.ac.uk) or Lynn Kerridge (L.Kerridge@soton.ac.uk).  For more information about SHTAC please visit www.southampton.ac.uk/shtac.
