As part of the OpenDreamKit project [1] we are looking for a research fellow to realise the first phase of the micromagnetic demonstrator prototype [2] of using the IPython notebook in a computational science and engineering context. The initial tasks will be the development of a Python and Jupyter interface to the OOMMF [3] micromagnetic framework.

The OpenDreamKit project is a Horizon 2020 funded project that brings together Mathematicians, computer scientists, scientists and engineers driven by the desire to improve the open source computational software ecosystem, including integration and further development of the IPython/Jupyter interactive computing environment.  The focus will be on the micromagnetic demonstrator which takes a well established micromagnetic simulation package, makes it computational capabilities available through the interactive computing environment Jupyter, and explores, and evaluates the added value that this approach delivers.

You will have experience in micromagnetic modelling, software engineering, Python and C++, use of the IPython notebook/Jupyter and understanding of the needs of computational scientists working in the field to allow designing a suitable user interface and effective work flows. Ability to team work across discipline boundaries and effective communication in English, both oral and written, are essential.
