International recruitment
The University has over 6500 overseas students and over 100 nationalities are represented. Our staff are equally mixed in their backgrounds and nationalities, and we welcome and encourage international recruitment.
We support staff joining from other countries in various ways:
- We have an arrangement with a relocation agency, Robinsons International, for international staff joining us on contracts of 2 years or longer. They provide assistance in various ways including arranging visits to properties, advising on schools and child care, assisting in removal and insurance.
- Our arrangement with a local bank allows an account to be set up for staff, ready for use on arrival in the UK.
- Certificates of Sponsorship are applied for and processed by the University. Visas and other permissions to remain in the UK need to be applied for by individuals.
An International Culture
Staff joining us from other countries will find that there is a multicultural feel to Southampton and the University. There are societies, clubs, and groups to support many cultures and nationalities as well as many places of religious activity and worship. Art, culture, leisure, recreational and sporting activities and events cover a wide range of interests. A wide range of shopping facilities includes food shops stocking ingredients from around the globe.
