Early Years Centre (Highfield Campus)
The University of Southampton offers access to high quality education and childcare for children aged birth to five years for students, staff and local residents.The centre is open throughout the year, closing for Easter holiday, Christmas holiday and Bank Holidays. Healthcare and Dental schemes
All staff have access to a private health care scheme through AXA PPP. This provides an optional discounted health care scheme for employees with reduced rates for individual or family membership. You can join the healthcare scheme on a medical history disregarded (MHD) basis within six weeks of your employment start date or at promotional events during the year.
Staff can also cover the cost of routine dental treatments such as examinations, extractions and fillings with a dental plan, provided by Unum Dental. You can join the University dental plan within six weeks of your employment start date, or once a year at scheme renewal on 1 July
Pension scheme
The University participates in several pension schemes. PASNAS and USS are the main schemes and provide excellent benefits on retirement. All schemes are tailored to meet the needs of the University sector, including provision for career breaks. The employee and the University make percentage contributions to the schemes and rates may vary from time to time and between schemes.
The University is changing the PASNAS contractual pension scheme on 1 January 2019. New starters in 2018 will continue to be enrolled in the University of Southampton Pension and Assurance Scheme for Non-Academic Staff (PASNAS). New starters from 1 January 2019 onwards will be enrolled in the new University of Southampton Retirement Fund (USRF).
Sport and Wellbeing Membership
Sport and Wellbeing membership offers staff and their families the chance to use the University’s sporting facilities at a special rate.There are facilities for swimming, fitness and indoor sport on Highfield as well as grass pitches and courts for a range of sports at Wide Lane, and sailing, shooting and archery at the University Watersports Centre.Follow the link for more information on Sport and Wellbeing.
Sport and Wellbeing run a variety of Holiday Camps, Water Sports courses and Swimming Lessons for Children.The Holiday Camps offer a wide range of sporting activities to keep children busy over the holiday periods. From archery to raft building to football and throughout the year they also offer water sports courses and host weekly term-time swimming lessons through the Jubilee Swimming Academy.
Staff Discounts
Staff have access to a wide range of local and national retail, leisure and service discounts. These include restaurants, travel, local shops, entertainment, health and fitness facilities, hair and beauty services and many more.
